School Opening/Closing
Our school will be closing on Friday the 27th of October at 3 pm for our Halloween holidays.
Our school will re-open on Monday the 6th of November at 9.20am. Our bus has been informed.

Voluntary Contribution,2023.
In order to meet our ever increasing costs we are asking you, our parents to give a voluntary contribution of €50 for the first child ,€40 for the second and €30 for the third child in our school. Please give your contribution in an envelope with your child’s /children’s name/s on it to your class teacher. Your voluntary contribution is for Art Materials and Administrative costs.

Holy Communion,2024
Our Holy Communion will take place on Saturday the 11th of May at 11am.
Mr.Mike Hussey/PDST Secondment
A new Primary Curriculum was launched in the Spring of this year .Our latest Curriculum is divided into four parts with STEM (Science, Technology ,Engineering and Maths) forming one part.
Mr.Mike Hussey has been seconded post interview to work with the Professional Development Services for Teachers .We are delighted for Mike and wish him every success in the coming school year.
Kerry County Board Football TrainingMr .PJ Reidy will once again begin football training in our school on alternate Thursdays.
Lunch Food App
School Food 4 Primary,our lunch food provider recently changed their app.If anyone is still having problems ordering food please contact cashless@schoolfoodcompany.ie.
School Self Evaluation/Wellbeing
Over the past two years our school has looked at all aspects of Wellbeing in our school. To finalise our study we sent out a Parental Questionnaire to you the parents .All information gathered is available to view in the school office. This feedback and past surveys from staff and pupils will inform teaching and learning going forward.
The findings of our two year School Self-Evaluation are as follows-
*We feel our school is very aware of the link between Wellbeing and all aspects of school success.
*We believe that our school is committed to Wellbeing and we have and we are prepared to embrace all experiences so that all enrolled in our school experience wellbeing every day.
*We are as a staff are constantly monitoring the Wellbeing levels in our school so that we can intervene with any necessary interventions to a class or group.
*Lessons are regularly taught in our school to tap into the importance of finding your voice and knowing what is needed to be ourselves.
We have also
*Registered for the Amber Flag and have prepared our application based on all work completed in this area to date.
*In June of this year we ratified our Wellbeing Policy .As with all policies they are available to view by appointment in the school office.
*We have also allowed all information gathered from Staff,Parents and pupils to inform teaching and learning in the new school year of 2023-2024.
Halloween Dress Up Party for the Children’s Health Foundation
All pupils can attend school on the day of the holidays in their Halloween costumes. Please bring €2 with you for the Children’s Health Foundation.(Crumlin, Temple Street, Tallaght ,Connolly Hospitals).

NCSE Ticket
We have been successful in acquiring a ticket for support for Primary Curriculum Framework 2023-2024 in the new school year. This ticket will allow us to access support and information as we begin to incorporate all new initiatives ,suggestions and findings of the new Primary Curriculum Framework into our teaching and learning going forward.
Speech and Language Therapy 25.09.2023-27.09.2023 (inclusive)
Alanna O Conno ,our Speech and Language Therapist recently visited our school completing assessments and in doing so made reviews and recommendations. We were delighted to accommodate Alanna and welcomed all the support she had to offer.
This SLT visit was funded by outside agencies.
We are very grateful to them both for putting the needs of the pupils in our care first.
Designated Liaison Officer for Child Protection
Mrs. Áine Murphy is the Designated Liaison Officer for Child Protection in our school.
The Acting Deputy Liaison Officer for Child Protection in our school is Mrs .Anita Murphy .Mrs .Anita Murphy is now the Acting Deputy Principal in our school.
Please note that all staff members are mandated Child Protection officers.
Please note that new procedures and guidelines have come into place for Child Protection this year. These guidelines and amendments will be ratified at our first BOM of the new school year.
Once ratified these guidelines will be available to view by appointment in the school office.
Children’s First
On the 15th of September last all staff members completed the Children’s First workshop again .This workshop is completed every three years to make sure we are all familiar with new procedures and updates to Child Protection.
Parent/Teacher Meetings
Parent/Teacher Meetings are an important part of our school calendar. Please note that only parents ,legal guardians and foster parents can attend these meetings.

1.Zeeko Peer to Peer Internet Safety Education 29.9.2023
On the 29th of September last Zeeko,an Internet Safety provider came to our school and conducted workshops on Internet Safety in all our classrooms. Their peer to peer Internet Safety Education zones in on

Develops: co -operative and collaborative learning, critical-thinking ,growth mind-set
Increases self-confidence and self-esteem, social skills ,leadership skills.
*On the 28th of September last we posted an advertisement from TRENDMICRO on our Facebook page advertising a free event online on Internet Safety for you ,our parents.
This event which was one hour in duration was a practical, informative talk on Internet Safety in today’s world. The event on Zoom was accessible on all devices.
2.Katie O Donaghue Workshop/The Squirrel Who Worried 26.9.2023
On the 26.9.2023 last the Junior and Middle Classrooms took part in a wellbeing workshop with author Katie O Donaghue.
Katie’s second book “The Little Otter Who tried” has been purchased for both classrooms.
The Middle and Senior room have recently received copies of “The Boy,the Mole,the fox and the horse” for their libraries.
3.Music
Music this year will be with Peggy Healy every Tuesday.
Our pupils will also take part in a Music Generation workshop every Thursday with Aoife.
4 Art Canvas 27.9.2023
Every class in our school will create a canvas on the theme of” Local Inspiration” this term. These canvases will be displayed in the Carnegie Arts Centre later in the year.
5.Maths Week 10-22,October.
Maths Week was celebrated from the 10th of October last .Our pupils experienced lots of different activities celebrating Maths week.
6.MS Readathon,October/November, 2023
Every class from 1st class onwards will take part in the MS Readathon. Our school actively encourages reading .The MS Readathon gives us all the opportunity to read and take pleasure in reading while raising much needed funds for our school.
Breakfast and After School Clubs
Ms.Marie Sheehy of the Curious Minds Initiative have visited our school recently .Marie was delighted to visit and felt that if sufficient names enrolled Breakfast and After-School Clubs were a viable option for our school in the New Year.
Cuman na mBunscoil Football Competition,2023.
The three teacher Cuman na mBunscoil Football competition began on Tuesday the 3rd of October.
Our footballers from 4th, 5th and 6th class were in action on Tuesday the 3rd of October in Waterville GAA grounds for the South Kerry three teacher Cumann na mBunscol competition. They played two games and were worthy winners of the first against S.N Cillín Liath. It all came down to the second game against Scoil Dar Earca ,Valentia, where we just came up short after a close competitive game. The team can be very proud of their performance on the day.
Pobalscoil Inbhéar Sceine Open Night
Pobalscoil Inbhéar Scéine will hold an Open Night and Information Evening for incoming First Years on Thursday the 26th of October. A letter giving all necessary information on this evening has been sent home to all our 6th class pupils.
The Annual Storytelling Festival 10-12 November,2023.
Storyteller Paddy O Brien will once again visit our school on Friday the 12th of November and delight and enthral us with funny, witty and entertaining stories.
Oral Language
Our School Self Evaluation for the next two years will focus on Oral Language in English and in Irish. In order to begin the process of self-evaluation we sent home pupil and parent questionnaires to be completed. Thank you in advance for your co-operation in this matter .All information gathered will inform teaching and learning going forward.

*Purchased oral language Curriculum material from school publishers.
*Printed and laminated A3 Oral Language posters.
*Signed up for the My Classroom book initiative with CJ Fallon.
*Reviewed and noted our Parent and Pupil questionnaires.
*The middle and Senior room took part in Katie O Donaghue’s workshop on her book “The Little Squirrel who worried”.
*All classes from First Class onwards are taking part in the MS Readathon thereby increasing their exposure to new words ,ideas and sentence structures.
*New books recently published and on the Children’s Best Sellers List were bought for each classroom.
Kerry County Mobile Library
We are very grateful to Kerry County Mobile Library for stopping in our carpark once a fortnight .This gives all our pupils’ time to view the books and select with the help of the supervising adult suitable reading material.
