The Senior classes of our school will walk part of the Kerry Way on the 2nd of April next in response to  former RTE newsreader Charlie Bird’s appeal for money to raise awareness of Motor Neuron Disease (MND) and to increase research into this deadly disease.

(21st to the 25th of March) To celebrate National Tree Week the middle classes and the Rainbow Room did a nature walk finding, labelling and examining leaves and trees in our local Garden of the Senses.

Food and Biodiversity St Michael’s National School is on its 10th Green Flag. This year we are studying Food and Biodiversity. On the 12th of March next our Senior classes will present a powerpoint and video presentation to the school on their work to date and all their findings. Even though we have taken down all our Covid signs and we are no longer required to stay in bubbles and pods we are still being reminded to stay connected to each other. Our pupils will be filling in these postcards once again and sending them to a person they choose.

March,April,May,June! Fitness February ended in the middle room with everyone fitter, happier and healthier! 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes have now agreed to keep running twice a week until the end of the year. Well done everyone!

Pancake Tuesday is always a very exciting day in our school! After the recipe is studied our pupils set about making and eating pancakes! I think our pictures of some very happy faces smudged with filling tell the story of how the day went!

WorWorld Book Day took place on the 3rd of March last and what a day of celebrating Literature we had. The Infants dressed up in their favourite book characters reading to each other and listening to each other read for the class.A special thank you to all our parents for doing such an amazing job with hair and make up.

Our Spring Basketball League came to a thrilling conclusion with the Eagles, ably captained by Catherine O’Sullivan beating the Roosters captained by Pierce O’Brien in extra time!!! Both teams played to the best of their abilities and the final was amazing to watch. Here is a picture of our finalists with their trophies.
