School Opening/Closing

Our school will be closing on Friday, the 22nd of Marchof March at 12 noon for our Easter holidays.

Our school will re-open on Monday the 8th of April at 9.20am. Our bus has been informed.

St. Patrick’s Day Fundraising

We are very grateful to our Parents Association who took over our fundraising on St. Patrick’s Day this year. Thank you to everyone who bought and sold tickets for us to raise much needed school funds for our school. Míle Buíochas!

Vikings in the Village

Music Generation

Music Generation with Aoife Desmond will continue for the remainder of the school year. We are delighted with Aoife and with all the wonderful musical experiences our pupils are having in her classes.

Drumming Workshop

We had a Drumming Workshop on 14th of March last with Urs Wenk from the Drum Dance Ireland .A great day was had by all!!

Family Welcome Day 14.2.2024

We are very grateful to all our parents, neighbours, friends and family members who made our Family Welcome Day such a special day .Thank you to everyone who baked and helped in any small way .It was a very happy day!

We would especially like to thank Jean-Yves and Fr. O Brien for distributing ashes to all who wanted them as our welcome day fell on Ash Wednesday. We would also like to thank Fr. O Brien and Jean-Yves for giving our school a wonderful blessing at the end of the day.

Carnegie Arts Exhibition 29.1.2024

Each of the five classes in our school designed and painted a canvas which was put on display in the Carnegie Arts Centre for all to see during the month of January.

As a thank you from the Carnegie our Senior pupils visited the Arts Centre to view the canvases and to enjoy a movie and some treats.

Cuman na mBunscoil Football

Our pupils are enjoying football once again with Pierce McGill on alternate Wednesdays. We are very grateful to the County Board for providing this most enjoyable twice monthly training session for every class in our school.

Our senior classes travelled to Kenmare on Friday the 15th of March last for the INTO Cumann na mBunscoil Mini-Sevens.

Our seniors played with skill and enthusiasm and had a great day mixing with their contempories in the Kenmare area.

School Photovoltaic Programme

The School Photovoltaic Programme is currently open to all schools in Munster. We, in St.Michael’s NS  are looking forward to the completion of this process so that we can place solar panels on the South facing roof of our school.

Seven a side soccer challenge

On the 11th of March last our senior boys travelled to Killarney Celtic Training Grounds and enjoyed a seven a side soccer challenge. They played 4 competitive games and did themselves proud in the process. Well done everybody!!

Heritage in Schools 24.1.2024

Dave Swift from the Heritage in Schools programme visited our school  in January and facilitated a workshop in the Senior Room on the arrival of the Vikings to Dublin ,the formation of the city and ancient artefacts that represent that time in our history.

Dave was engaging, informative and entertaining and the day was enjoyed by all.

Mr. D and all things Science 30.1.2024

Mr. D /Chuck Delpier visited our school and spent a wonderful day with our pupils and all things Science .Mr. D will return again on the 30th of April for another fun Science day.

Stem Workshop Challenge beginning on the 19.1.2024

Mirka Downing of STEM Engineers began working in our school on the 19th of January last and introduced our pupils to the intricacies of Engineering , Construction and Building with Engineering and STEM equipment. Mirka will work in our school for 6 weeks.

St. Brigid’s Day Crosses

St. Brigid’s Day crosses were made throughout the school to celebrate St. Brigid’s Day. Our crosses were then sold in the village with all proceeds going to the Sneem Family Festival.

Florian and Amy Lee visited our school and thanked our pupils for their hard work in preparing the crosses and for the Family Festival donation.

Lá Glas

In honour of St. Patrick’s Day our pupils and staff wore green on Friday the 15th of March to celebrate our Patron saint.

First Holy Communion 11.5.2024

Our First Holy Communion will take place on Saturday the 11th of May at 11am.In preparation for this Sacrament our parents were invited to join a webinar on the First “Holy Communion –Journeying with your child” led by Dr .Patricia Kiernan of Mary Immaculate College ,Limerick on the 21.2.2024 last.

This will be followed by First Confession which will take place on the 10th of April next in Sneem Church.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

*The Infant classes practised Set Dancing

Listening to Irish Music

 Learning the Irish song “Lá Fheile Padraig atá ann”.

*The Middle room continued to learn new Irish words and practised writing Irish Stories.

*The Senior room enjoyed Gaelgóir na Seachtaine,Tráth na gcéist agus Amhranaí as Gaeilge.

Art Competition Winner

Congratulations to Ellie O Sullivan our Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine Art Competition Winner. Ellie won two VIP tickets to the Pobalscoil Inbhéar Sceine Musical” Here We Go Again” as well as a backstage pass and a bag of sweets.

The Oskars,24.2.2024

The Oskars Ceremony was held in Sneem on the 24.2.2024 last. It was as the Hollywood Oscars are, a night of nights when creativity ,talent, fun ,glamour and glitterati mingled for a magical and memorable night .Congratulations to Stephanie,Brendan and Anne on organising such a fabulous event with special congratulations to our own Eleanor Doyle for her Best Actress Performance in Derry Girls.

And while Mark Drummond , Kevin Larkin and  Noele O Sullivan did not receive Oskars for their performances we thought they did themselves proud and were excellent in their chosen roles.

Our Flying Flags

We have just raised three flags outside our school. They are

1.Our Cineáltas Flag

This flag was gifted to all schools .”Cineáltas” means kindness and this flag forms part of the action plan to prevent Bullying.

2.Our Second Active Flag

Our school prides itself on incorporating fitness and health into the Curriculum as actively as we possibly can and our second Active Flag acknowledges our hard work in doing so..

3.Our Kerry Flag

Our school supports our Kerry Team and are happy to fly our county flag in anticipation of the upcoming championship and all the entertainment and excitement our team will bring to our lives.

Kerry County Mobile Library

We are very grateful to Kerry County Mobile Library for stopping in our carpark once a fortnight .This gives all our pupils’ time to view the large selection of books and select with the help of the supervising adult suitable reading material.
